MATHEMATICS

Welcome to Math Class!
In math this year we will be using and sharing multiple strategies when solving math problems! Through developing habits of a mathematician, your child will be able to critically think, problem solve and persevere through mathematical challenges. By praising the effort and process, instead of the result, they will see math knowledge as attainable and accessible to everyone, including themselves! We use the Eureka math curriculum and follow the Common Core Standards.  We use use the approach of Cognitively Guided Instruction which focuses on enriching their mathematical reasoning and problem solving skills based on the knowledge they already possess. Through this they develop a deeper knowledge of number sense and mathematical patterns!

Math Homework Help:
  1. Students should refer to their math notebook and their class notes to support them with math homework.
  2. The Eureka Homework Helper restates the main ideas of the lessons in a kid-friendly and parent-friendly way.  The first module is free and linked below. You can buy the Homework Helper book (278 pages) for $15 at the link below. Use the PROMO Code EM2016 to get a $2 discount. eurekamath.teamcamelot.com/homework-helpers.php
  3. Students can also click on the video links for each lesson below.  These are 5-10 minute videos which re-teach the lesson.
  4. Parents can read and use the "Parent Tip Sheets" and "Parent Newsletters" to support their children in math.
  5. There are also "Other Math Resources" at the bottom for the students and parents.
